Detroit is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Detroit follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Seems like a world away from downtown Detroit. Tropical and humid inside. Free to visit. The ground are beautifully manicured too, lots of folks taking wedding pictures or actually doing their weddings onsite. Dogs not allowed inside but they're okay outside.

Five stars for the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory. I had such a wonderful time visiting the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory and it definitely deserves five stars. The different exhibits they have are fantastic and so full of vibrant life. Seeing a banana tree with bananas growing on it was absolutely amazing. I also saw an Arabica coffee tree and a mango tree which were highlights for me. Even though I am not a flower guy the rare orchids really impressed me. The way these flowers grow out of the leaves is truly spectacular and unique. There are so many different kinds of plants flowers and foliage everywhere you look making it a beautiful experience. As a 22 year old Metro Detroit resident who is getting into nature this place was perfect and really inspiring. I highly recommend checking it out.

I was blessed beyond measure to visit Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory on Memorial Day!! Once inside, I immediately recognized the atmosphere's gentle invitation for quiet reflection and contemplation! To this end, I was very intentional to approach the tour of the botanical garden with a still and open heart so that I could truly be present to the beauty and tranquility of the moment! As a result, I experienced tangibly and very profoundly the lavish love and healing peace of Jesus as I beheld the majesty of His natural creation!! In fact, He revealed to me His divine fingerprints on each of the perfectly-curated exhibits, especially on the Children's Temperance Fountain, originally erected in 1910 by the Detroit Federation Christian Woman's Temperance Union, which includes a statue of a beautiful girl offering up a bowl of prayerful intentions to the Heavens! This display inspires me to approach the Lord with the faith of a child and to always receive His gifts with a heart posture of gratitude and never with a sense of entitlement! πŸ™πŸ’πŸ•ŠπŸ¦‹β›²οΈ Suffice it to say, Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory is the perfect place to find rest for your heart and sanctuary for your soul! β™₯οΈπŸ•Š V

The Belle Isle Conservatory is easily one of the most unique and peaceful spots in Detroit. Walking in feels like stepping into another worldβ€”lush greenery, warm humid air, and beautifully maintained plant collections spread across several distinct rooms. The architecture alone is worth the visit, with the glass dome creating incredible light that makes everything feel vibrant and alive. Each section has its own vibeβ€”from tropical plants to desert cactiβ€”and it’s easy to spend a good amount of time just wandering and taking it all in. It’s especially great for photography or just a quiet escape from the city. Best of all, it’s free (with park entry), which makes it an absolute must-visit whether you’re local or just passing through. A true Detroit gem.

I’m not sure why I find conservatories so beautiful but I could spend days and days exploring them and never be tired of them. Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, located on Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan is located in the middle of one of the most beautiful hidden gems of Michigan. Belle Isle is an island in the Detroit River and offers a variety of areas and activities for families to enjoy and explore. We also did the aquarium, and that post is next! Cost- zero dollars (however Michigan Parks does do a Recreation Passport which can be obtained easily for entry to all state parks and campgrounds) Overall impression: would love to return in the spring and see the island in color!! Definitely family friendly and could spend an entire day with everything Belle Isle has to over!!
